Tea Partying with a Purpose: Bass Cabaret Supports Women’s Empowerment at its Mad Tea Party

women-are-like-pearls_bass-cabaret_webSan Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2014 — In the wake of October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an initiative organized by Bass Cabaret proves that there is such a thing as partying with a purpose. The variety-show-turned-dance party, now in its seventh installment, features burlesque dancers, bass music, and interactive areas at every show, but their November 22 event will do much more than that by encouraging guests to support women’s empowerment initiatives.

The tea itself will be free, but in order to enter the tea room, guests will send a message to their favorite social network using hashtag #voiceshavepower, which will generate $3 via the HopeLine program from Verizon towards initiatives to end domestic abuse. Guests can use suggested messages which focus on positive affirmations including, “Everyone deserves a safe & respectful relationship.” or “Like a pearl, you are resilient.” Guests can then show a host their status update to be admitted to this special room celebrating feminine beauty and resilience.

The woman behind Bass Cabaret, PartyGirl Pearl, believes that her cabaret and variety show can serve as a platform for women’s empowerment as well as men’s through performance and play. “Burlesque encourages performers — no matter the gender identity — to reveal an intimate part of themselves to an audience. Burlesque can stand on its own as an empowering art form.”

But she takes it a step further. “I believe that sparking a conversation on domestic and dating violence is a great start to affecting real change in our society as we strive for healthier relationships and sex positivity in our communities.”

The event will be held at Mighty, voted one of San Francisco’s best dance clubs, on Saturday November 22 starting at 10pm. Tickets are on sale now at http://basscabaret.eventbrite.com/.

"Party Girl" Pearl has arrived in the SF Bay Area, harvested from a virgin oyster where she had been cultured since the early 1910's. She began throwing elaborate costume parties in the 1920's on land, and by the early 2000's had become a part of the emerging electronic dance music scene. Today, Pearl blends these worlds with burlesque and the circus arts and creates immersive experiences for party-goers while supporting causes like women’s empowerment and water conservation.
